DESCRIPTION Double clad fibers are a group of very efficient brightness converting fibers. The fibers are pumped by multimode diodes and provide lasing / amplification in a high beam quality signal core. Using the photonic crystal fiber tech-nology, a ring of air holes efficiently confines pump light in a pure silica multimode pump core (inner cladding). The inner cladding has a high numerical aperture (NA) due to the large index step between the airclad and sil-ica. Within the inner cladding is a single mode ytterbium doped core. Microstructuring of the inner cladding with stress rods allows a polarized large mode field diameter core while still maintaining a superior beam quality. The fiber is available with sealed ends, beam expanders and high power connectors as an option.
