DESCRIPTION The DC-200/85-Yb-ROD fiber represents the pinnacle of active double-clad fibers. The fiber has an effective area above 2800 μm2. The very large effective area combined with extremely high pump-absorption of up to 30 dB/m pushes the nonlinear thresholds to a new regime in fiber optics. The fiber is aimed at high peak-power pulsed amplifiers and has been shown to handle mega-Watt peak-power levels. The DC-200/85-Yb-ROD is a rod-type fiber with an outer diameter of 1.7 mm – bridging the DPSS and fiber laser world. The large outer diameter ensures that the ex-tremely large core will not suffer from bending loss. Moreover, the fiber is coating free to facilitate thermal management in high-power setups.
AIRCLAD FIBERS Airclad fibers are a class of brightness converting double clad fibers. The fibers are pumped by multimode diodes and provide lasing / amplification in a high beam quality signal core. Using the photonic crystal fiber technology, a ring of air holes efficiently confines pump-light in a pure silica multimode pump core (inner cladding). The inner cladding has a high numerical aperture (NA) due to the large index step between the airclad and sil-ica. Within the inner cladding is a single mode ytterbium doped core.
